Our Commitment
MADMIA is committed to making our website accessible to everyone, including people with visual impairments, hearing impairments, motor disabilities, and cognitive disabilities. We believe that everyone deserves equal access to our products and the same great shopping experience, regardless of how they navigate the web.
We are actively working to improve the accessibility of www.madmia.com and aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA — the internationally recognised standard for web accessibility.
Technical Standard
Our website targets conformance with WCAG 2.1 Level AA. WCAG is developed by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) and defines how to make web content more accessible to people with disabilities. The four core principles are:
- Perceivable — content can be presented in ways users can perceive (e.g. alt text for images, captions for video)
- Operable — all functionality is available via keyboard and other assistive technologies
- Understandable — content and operation are clear and predictable
- Robust — content works reliably with current and future assistive technologies including screen readers
Known Accessibility Issues
We are aware that parts of our website do not yet fully meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA. The table below shows the current status of key accessibility features we are working to improve. We are committed to addressing these as a priority.

What We Are Doing
We are actively working to improve accessibility across our website. Our current programme of work includes:
- Alt text: Adding descriptive alternative text to all product images, banners, promotional graphics, brand logos, social media icons, and country flag icons so that screen readers can convey their content
- Button labels: Updating all “Add to Cart” buttons to include product-specific labels so screen readers announce exactly which product is being added
- Form controls: Labelling all size selectors, age range selectors, variant pickers, the currency selector, and the promotional countdown timer with descriptive ARIA labels
- Keyboard navigation: Ensuring the entire shopping journey — from browsing to checkout — can be completed using a keyboard alone, without requiring a mouse
- Colour contrast: Reviewing and updating all text, buttons, banners and interface elements to meet the WCAG minimum contrast ratio of 4.5:1 for normal text
- Screen reader compatibility: Ensuring sale badges, ‘Sold Out’ labels, ‘Almost Gone’ indicators, and strikethrough sale prices are correctly announced by screen readers
- Checkout and account pages: Making the login, account creation, cart, and checkout flows fully accessible to screen reader and keyboard users
- Third-party tools: Working with our payment provider and platform (Shopify) to ensure all embedded components meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA
- Ongoing audits: Conducting regular accessibility audits using both automated scanning tools and manual testing with screen readers including NVDA, JAWS and VoiceOver
Assistive Technologies We Support
We aim for our website to be compatible with the following assistive technologies:
- Screen readers including NVDA, JAWS, and VoiceOver
- Keyboard-only navigation
- Browser zoom up to 200% without loss of content or functionality
- High contrast display modes
- Speech recognition software
Legal Compliance
Australia

United States
Under Title III of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), commercial websites must be accessible to people with disabilities. MADMIA is committed to meeting its obligations under the ADA for all customers in the United States, referencing WCAG 2.1 Level AA as the applicable technical standard.
Europe
The European Accessibility Act (EAA, Directive 2019/882) requires all businesses providing e-commerce services to EU consumers to meet digital accessibility standards, enforceable from 28 June 2025.
